Getting a grip with JCR’s billet aluminum shift paddles for the 991/991.2 GT3 RS

Porsche’s dual clutch PDK transmission in the 991/991.2 GT3 RS offers razor-sharp shifts when commanded by its pair of steering wheel-mounted paddles.

Yet for some, those paddles are lacking in stature and offer less-than-ideal surface area for grabbing gears, particularly during harder turns.

JCR Developments has an answer: Their Billet Aluminum Lightweight Shift Paddles for the GT3 RS.

Featuring a 70% increase in paddle reach, JCR’s paddles offer an elegant and customizable solution to give your fingers more surface area to execute those split-second shifts.

While the Weissach package comes with some rather slick carbon fiber paddles, they’re not any larger than the standard fare.

This GT3 RS had been equipped with carbon fiber extensions from AutoTecknic, which affixed over the factory paddles to increase their reach, but as a literally tacked-on solution, it lacked the fit and finish of a single, purpose-built piece.

Each JCR paddle requires three hours of CNC machining, and after their 5-axis treatment, they can either anodized or painted before they are bonded to the 3D printed Ultem mechanism that mounts to the steering wheel.

Having them sprayed in Racing Yellow will match this RS’s interior stitching, belts/harnesses and PCCB brake calipers.

With the steering wheel out of the car, it’s time for the swap.

Whereas the factory PDK paddles are barely noticeable, the JCR billet paddles immediately stand out, adding functionality and style to the GT3 RS’s already astounding capabilities both on and off the track.
